I’m a senior copywriter who loves to think up ideas and write.
Before I became a copywriter, I was a journalist. I’ve also been on radio, ran record labels and been a speechwriter.
I love the challenge. Most people don’t want to read ads, but many clients have attested they do read mine. I guess that’s why I keep getting asked back.
For over a decade I’ve been entrusted by many Melbourne agencies including DDB, Ogilvy, Whippet, Cummins & Partners, Penso, The Royals, Noisy Beast, The Brand Agency, TBWA, M&C Saatchi, and Big Red to solve their clients’ problems.
It’s not just advertising agencies I’ve helped.
More and more over the years, organisations of all sizes including the AFL, Luxxotica, the Victorian government and Total Tools have trusted me to solve their problems and make work that captures the eye and heart of people everywhere.
And for four years I was at Private Media, Australia’s leading independent news network, coming up with all the ideas that got people to subscribe to their Crikey, SmartCompany and The Mandarin mastheads.
The work I did there more than doubled Crikey’s subscriber base – in fact, if you’re a one of the 30,000 Crikey subscribers, it was most likely my campaign ideas that led you to the subscribe page.
At the beginning there is always an insight and an idea, then my strength lies in compelling, memorable and persuasive copy – all in the tone of voice that works best.
Digital, TV, Direct Marketing, Radio, Print, OOH, you name it, I’ve written for it. Financial services, telcos, big retail, automotive, publishers, sports or FMCG, you name it, I have sold it.
You can also read my popular Nightwatchman Substack newsletter where I write about life outside our screens, and sometimes read my words in SmartCompany and The Age.
My life passions are my little family, music, being the president of the world-famous Abbotsford Anglers cricket club, and barracking for Collingwood.
